Toby crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday, September 18, 2017. He was 12 years old. Toby was surrounded by love as he took his last breath. He was the last of the family dogs, being predeceased by Buddy, Blackie and Keiko.
“Toby loved to chase anything that moved, especially if it squeaked. If it had stuffing, he loved to rip it to shreds. Chew toys had to pass the Toby Test i.e. indestructible. He loved to run on the beach and swim after sticks. He loved to sleep under the covers all the way at the foot of the bed. He loved to be on my lap. And he loved to lick your face. Toby loved to lay in the sunshine that came through the door in winter and he loved to jump up on the hot tub lid and stretch out in the early spring sunshine. He loved to wrestle with his canine friends. Mostly he loved to be with me and would follow me everywhere I went around the house and yard. He mostly just loved to be with us, wherever we went. That included drives in the truck riding shotgun, donning his own life jacket for canoe trips and sleeping in a tent. More recently curling up on his own bed in the camper, knowing he was with us regardless what the next day would bring.” ~ Elaine
Toby will be sadly missed by his family and canine friends. As with any passing of our animals it is the end of an era. But we can take comfort in knowing he is in good company with his four-legged friends that went before him. And I am sure he is laying on James’ lap right now having a well needed nap.
