The Rain Could Not Stop Us!!!

Not even the rain could stop the hundreds of people that came out to support the memory of Kaylin Diggs, James Mattatall, and others who have lost a love one to the violence in our city.

We walked in the pouring rain from Sullivans Pond, down Ochterloney Street to Alderney Drive.  Then up onto Wyse and across the MacDonald Bridge.  From there we headed up North Street, down Gottingen to the Police Station.  Then we made the corner and walked along Rainnie Drive to the Halifax Common spot by the Willow Tree and Cogswell Street.

Once we arrived at the Commons, there were a few speeches, family members released balloons for a loved one lost, a BBQ was underway, pictures were taken, and a few people spoke to the various media staff on-site to cover this event.

Despite the weather, we stood together as a community, helping each other through the rain, holding arms as we crossed the bridge and we did what we came out to do….to raise the awareness that the violence in our city needs to stop.  Over fifty of us walked for James wearing purple t-shirts with his picture on it.

Please check out below some of the news footage and the articles that were in the local newspaper.  Excellent job by Natasha, Quentrel and the rest of the Diggs family for organizing this event.
