Keiko, which means the “Lucky One” in Japanese, passed away on Friday, January 3rd, 2014.
When she joined the Mattatall family it was her third home. She truly was a lucky dog when she was adopted at age seven into this family.
“Keiko arrived just three months before James died. She was in our home surrounded by the grief and raw emotions in those first days and weeks following. She was an angel in disguise. She was truly a gift sent to us by some other worldly forces at work. We like to think she is with James now, even though he knew her such a short time. I have a vivid memory of James in a chair by the back deck, absently stroking her head which always rested on his knee as soon as he sat down. He thought she was lovely, as we all did.” ~ Elaine
Keiko will be sadly missed by her favorite dog walkers Hannah and Jenna. She will be remembered camping at Bass River, swimming after ducks, her wagging tail as you came in the back door, her bark of excitement, and her ability to get along with all her dog friends. Keiko… we were the Lucky Ones!
